In the ASCI examples 6.48 and 6.49 given in the manual for ver. 6.0, symmetry was switched of. Will symmetry work?

Thank you for the question. The current implementation of the ASCI does not take advantage of spatial symmetry and the related rem variables (SYMMETRY and SYM_IGNORE) are turned off accordingly.
