EDA 2 calculation not converging

Program version: Qchem 5.2

I have tried changing the SCF settings for a large close shell system (F1: 363 atoms ; F2: 71 atoms) with the following options and combinations to solve this EDA 2:

Nothing seems to converge and i do not have more ideas.

The SCF calculation for the first fragment seems extremely difficult to converge (I was able to reproduce that), and it doesn’t seem to be a problem specific to EDA2. I will look more into this.

Hello. Sorry for the delay. I tried running the first fragment using BLYP and B3LYP. BLYP behaves pretty much the same as BP86, and B3LYP converges in 209 cycles, which is still not ideal.

I looked more carefully at your system and found a few unsaturated oxygen atoms and in particular an unsaturated carbon atom (atom 361, 363). The DFT problem would certainly not be too happy with that. Is there any chance for you to do calculations with properly terminated carbon chains?
